Universal Robots' UR7e is the new 7.5 kg middle of the e-Series: the upgraded successor to the UR5e, with the same 850 mm reach but 50 per cent more payload. The question buyers actually ask is what that upgrade costs, because most UR pages still show the old UR5e name — and the dealer listing has already moved on to the UR7e.
What the UR7e is
The UR7e is a six-axis cobot built for light, repetitive work done alongside people: pick-and-place, machine tending, testing and quality control, and packaging. It runs PolyScope 5 on a 12-inch touchscreen, programs by lead-through and graphical blocks, and carries 17 safety functions rated PLd Category 3 under EN ISO 13849-1, which is what lets it work next to operators after a risk assessment rather than behind fencing.
The published specifications, from Universal Robots' own technical data, are:
- Payload: 7.5 kg
- Reach: 850 mm
- Arm weight: 20.7 kg
- Protection: IP54
- Power: 570 W maximum, about 250 W on a typical program
- Safety: PLd Category 3 (EN ISO 13849-1)
The payload jump over the UR5e is the whole point of this model. If your part plus gripper stays under 5 kg, the older UR5e class is enough and you should not pay for headroom you will not use. If it sits between 5 and 7.5 kg, the UR7e is the smallest UR arm that can run the job without overloading — and that is exactly the band where buyers get quoted the wrong arm.

| Model | Listed price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Universal Robots UR7e | €30,619 excl. VAT | 7.5 kg cobot, 850 mm reach, in stock at listing |
One caution before you budget: the dealer page carrying this price sits under a UR5e URL slug while its content and product offer describe the UR7e. Treat the €30,619 figure as the UR7e price shown in the page's product offer, and confirm the model name on the written quote — do not order off the URL alone.
For context, the same dealer's e-Series ladder runs UR3e (3 kg, 500 mm) below this model and UR12e (12.5 kg, 1300 mm) above it, so the UR7e is the step for jobs that outgrew 5 kg but do not need a 1300 mm arm.
When the UR7e fits, and when it does not
The UR7e fits best for light, fast, close work: pick-and-place, testing, machine tending and packaging where parts plus gripper stay at or below 7.5 kg and the workstation fits inside an 850 mm reach. Its programming model matters most where there is no in-house robot programmer.
Step up to a larger cobot when any of these apply: payloads above 7.5 kg, reach beyond 850 mm, a dusty or wet environment beyond IP54, or a cycle that needs sustained speed the 7.5 kg arm cannot hold with a heavier gripper. Buying the UR7e for a 10 kg part is not a saving; it is a cell that cannot run the job.
A final budgeting note: the €30,619 figure is the robot price excl. VAT. Treat the gripper, any camera or screwdriving tool, safety validation for your specific cell, freight and VAT as separate lines, and confirm the current dealer price before budgeting, since cobot pricing moves with configuration and region.
