Samsung Ballie is Samsung Electronics' AI-powered home companion robot, first unveiled as a concept at CES 2020 and shown in significantly advanced form at CES 2024. Ballie is a golf ball-shaped rolling robot that navigates autonomously through the home, projecting content onto walls and floors using a built-in projector while serving as a central hub for Samsung's SmartThings home automation ecosystem. The updated Ballie demonstrated at CES 2024 features substantially improved AI capabilities powered by on-device large language model processing, enabling natural conversation and context-aware home automation responses. Ballie can control smart home devices, project exercise videos for fitness routines, monitor pets, and greet family members — all while navigating freely around furniture. Samsung has not announced a commercial release date or final pricing for Ballie as of 2026; it remains in the late development/pilot stage. The robot represents Samsung's vision for the future of the home AI assistant category, competing conceptually with Amazon Astro.
