There are three ways to buy the same palletizing cell, and they are usually compared with rules of thumb ("integration is 2-3x the robot") rather than numbers. This is a comparison built from catalogue prices instead: one US parts dealer read the same day, and one configurator company that publishes the bill of materials underneath its designs.
Prices for Automation Distribution were read on 13 August 2026. Vention figures are from our 4 August 2026 survey and were not re-read today; that matters and is flagged where it bites. Route 1: dealer parts, integrate it yourself
Automation Distribution lists Universal Robots arms and Robotiq application kits with add-to-cart prices. Today:

Two of those numbers are unchanged from our 28 July read sixteen days ago — the UR5e band and the $49,429.69 PE20 kit. If you were quoted from them in late July, the quote still reconciles.
The thing this route is usually chosen to avoid — paying someone to integrate — is on the same shelf, priced:

A UR20 palletizing cell assembled this way: arm $72,121.47 + PE20 with POWERPICK $59,493.75 + single-scanner safety $9,796.88 = $141,412.10 in hardware, plus startup, proof-of-concept and a day of training = $158,262.73.
Note what that does to the usual mental model: the arm is 45.6% of the total, and the "do it yourself" route still buys about $16,850 of somebody else's labour.
Route 2: the configurator
Vention sells pre-configured cells with a public per-line bill of materials — the only vendor in our records where the integration premium can be measured rather than estimated. From our 4 August survey: modular designs list at 3.7-5.3% above the sum of their own BOM lines, while turnkey designs run 37.0-58.2% above it, and only the turnkey pages carry a "Ready to Operate Support Bundle - Full Deployment" line. Palletizing designs there had a median price of $17,386.79 across 46 designs and topped out at $291,917.55, so the label spans everything from a frame to a complete station.
Software is a visible line item on this route: MachineApp-Palletizer $17,476.37, MachineMotion AI $7,476.
The cross-channel comparison is the surprise. The same arms, two channels:

The cheapest place to buy a bare UR arm, in our records, is the company that would rather sell you the cell around it. The gap is consistent at 13-19% across three sizes, which is what a channel margin difference looks like rather than a promotion. Caveat that matters: the right-hand column is nine days old and the arms may have moved; re-read before quoting.
Route 3: the integrator, turnkey
No integrator we have found publishes prices, which is why the Vention split is useful as a proxy: at the one vendor that shows both, buying the deployed version rather than the parts costs 37-58% more, and that premium purchases scoping, commissioning and a support bundle rather than hardware.
Applied to Route 1's hardware, a 37-58% deployment premium on $141,412.10 is roughly $52,000 to $82,000 — against the roughly $16,850 of labour SKUs you would buy on the self-integration route. That difference is the price of transferring the risk, not the price of the work.

Our reading, stated as a judgement rather than a finding: the routes are not really priced against each other on hardware — the arm is within a fifth across channels — they are priced on who absorbs the unknowns. Route 1 is cheapest only if your own hours are genuinely free, and the labour menu on that same shelf is a useful reality check on whether they are.
Two catalogue cautions
The dealer's search results include a listing titled "Robotic Palletizing Cell with Universal Robots Cobot" at $1,988.19 — three orders of magnitude below any real cell. Verify what a listing contains before you put it into a comparison. And Robotiq's own safety packages differ by a factor of 2.3 ($9,796.88 versus $22,443.75) purely on scanner count, so any cell price quoted without stating the safety configuration is not comparable to another one.
